These Facebook Business Page Tips With Essential Information You Can’t Leave Out
Your digital marketing strategy is obviously going to include organic and paid marketing on Facebook. That’s a given. But have you thought about the key facebook business page tips and how to optimize your Page?
Surprisingly often, we come across clients who have tried to develop a social media marketing strategy without first optimizing their business page on Facebook.
What makes me sad about this is that setting up a Facebook business page shouldn’t be seen as just another step.
Arguably, setting up your Facebook business page is one of the most important factors for your Facebook SEO and marketing strategy.
Let me give you a few Facebook business page tips and show you how to optimize your Facebook page for small business social media marketing.
Why Should I Optimize My Facebook Business Page?
Facebook has more than 1.4 billion active monthly users. That’s right: 1.4 billion.
If those numbers don’t impress you, I don’t know what will.
The opportunities for your target audience to see your page on Facebook are almost endless. This is great news for your business! That is, of course, unless you are struggling with how to optimize your Facebook page.
Even worse, if you haven’t properly set up your Facebook business page, you may be lacking in the information department.
Your potential audience doesn’t want to spend hours searching for information about your business. Today’s audience has a short attention span and you need to give them what they want where it’s going to be easily accessible.
Likewise, if you’re spending time and money on creating an amazing social media marketing strategy, you don’t want your Facebook business page to get lost in search.
For these reasons, I’m going to give you some of my favourite Facebook SEO tips and teach you how to optimize your Facebook page.
How Do I Optimize My Facebook Business Page?
Depending on who you ask, you’re going to hear a lot of different information on what’s important when optimizing your Facebook business page.
People are likely to give you Facebook SEO tips that include using keywords in the filenames of every image you upload. I’m going to assume that, like myself, you don’t have time for that and want to get the best bang for your metaphorical buck.
So, let’s get to narrowing down my favourite tips on how to optimize your Facebook page and starting you on your journey to improving your digital marketing strategy.
Create Your Profile Photo And Cover Photo
This seems like a pretty self-explanatory and easy step. I’m sorry to burst your bubble, but every step is an important one that takes time and strategic thinking.
Both of these images are going to be the first impression that you give your audience about your business. For this reason, you must make sure that your images clearly identify who you are and what services or products your business provides.
While clearly portraying the message that your business is trying to get across, you need to make sure your Facebook cover photo and profile photo are on brand and visually appealing.
Often, we see businesses regularly changing their profile and cover images without much thought, and when that happens, the images are typically off-brand and irrelevant. This is going to hurt your digital strategy.
Finally, when strategizing how to optimize your Facebook page, you’re going to want to make sure that you research the size dimensions of your profile and cover photo. A visually appealing and on brand image means nothing if the dimensions don’t match up.
Lastly, ALWAYS optimize for desktop and mobile. I often notice that a cover photo looks fantastic on desktop, but then is sadly cut off and unoptimized when viewed on mobile.
There are 1.15 billion active mobile users daily on Facebook. Seriously, don’t forget to be optimizing for mobile. You’ll thank me later.
Optimize Your Facebook Business Page Vanity URL
This step is sometimes overlooked in Facebook SEO tips and I’m here to remind you that it is highly important and you should always optimize the Vanity URL for your Facebook business page.
Essentially, when you’re strategizing how to optimize your Facebook page, changing your Vanity URL should be one of your first steps. This will allow you to create a URL that looks like “www.facebook.com/YourBusinessName,” which is much easier to share through word of mouth as well as on advertising outside of Facebook.
If you forget to change your Vanity URL, you’re going to be left with a combination of letters, numbers, and symbols in your URL that you’d never be able to share verbally or on other forms of advertising. Thus, bringing fewer users to your page.
Properly Optimize Your About Page
This is one of our favourite Facebook business page tips. Users are going to want to learn about you and your About page is exactly where you’ll have the chance to answer all of their questions.
Don’t leave any stone unturned with this step. I promise I wouldn’t be mentioning it if it wasn’t important.
When optimizing your About page, you’ll want to be as detailed as possible without being too wordy. This isn’t always easy, but your audience wants to learn as much information about you as possible without reading a novel.
In this section, at the very least you will want to provide your address, phone number and operating hours if applicable. You’re also missing out if you don’t link to your website and other social media profiles.
On a wider scale, the About page will have space for a short description titled “About” and a long description titled “Story.” Never leave these descriptions out!
In the short description, you have a 155 character limit to describe exactly who you are and what you provide. In your “Story,” you then have the opportunity to be more in depth about the services you provide and why this is important for your target audience.
Likewise to the “Story,” your business has the opportunity to write a “Mission.” Always do this! The “Mission” allows you to show your audience your values and what your business stands for.
Bonus points if you add an “Awards” section. But seriously, your Facebook business page is NOT optimized without your contact information, mission, and descriptions.
Pin Important Posts To The Top Of Your Business Page
When you post organic content on your Facebook page, you’re not likely going to reach as many users as you’d like. For this reason, in addition to paid advertising, pinning important posts to the top of your Facebook page will boost your organic digital marketing strategy.
If you’ve pinned an important post to the top of your Facebook page, it will be the first content that visitors see when lurking through your wall.
For example, if you have a particular event coming up and would like people to sign up, create an optimized post and pin it to the top of your business page!
Likewise, perhaps you’ve posted a new blog article on your website. Why not attract more users by pinning the optimized Facebook post to the top of your page?
