Starting April 21st, Moovweb tracked “1,000 important e-commerce keywords” from various industries. Here were their findings:
- 83% of the time, top results were mobile-friendly
- 81% of the time, top three results were mobile-friendly
- 77% of search results on the first page were mobile-friendly
Is My Website Mobile-Friendly?
In order for your website to make the cut with Google’s Mobile-Friendly Algorithm, it must be tagged as mobile-friendly by the search engine. Luckily, Google has provided clear criteria for how to make a website mobile compatible.
What is mobile friendly? According to Google, your website must be:
- Tapable: Place links far enough apart that users can easily tap the correct one
- Accessible: Avoid the use of technology which is not compatible for mobile devices (such as Adobe Flash)
- Readable: Use legible font sizes that can be read without zooming
- Well sized: Size your content to fit within the viewport
Is your website mobile friendly? Google makes it easy to test your page, too. Run the URL for each of your pages through the Google Mobile Friendly Test to see if Google recognizes your website as being mobile compatible.
