Facebook Secrets You May Not Know
So Facebook, although founded in February 2004, fells like it’s been around pretty much forever. Each and every day more and more brands are starting to develop their social media marketing strategy starting with Facebook.
Chances are if you’re a business owner or a social media consultant or company, you’re most definitely using Facebook for your or your client’s social media marketing. I’m sure you’re employing many of the tactics used by social media marketing (SMM) and social media optimization (SMO) professionals and experts.
There are a handful useful things that you many not have even realized you can do on Facebook.
1. Embed Posts
Facebook (like Instagram) allows you to embed a post on to your website or blog. The cool thing is people can like your page directly from that embedded post. On Instagram, you click on a link that takes you into the Instagram ecosystem and off the website you were on.
2. Schedule Posts
While I like to use Buffer and Hootsuite to schedule my social media posts, Facebook allows you to schedule tweets right from your timeline. It’s as simple as entering your status or post, uploading your image, and clicking on the clock icon in the bottom left corner to schedule the date and time.
3. Text To Like
Did you know your fans have the ability to like your page via a text message? This is a pot of gold for some businesses!!
All that is needed to do is text “Like [insert page username here]” to FBOOK (32665) and users automatically like your Facebook business Page!
This is crazy simple and should be displayed in waiting areas and lobbies of many local businesses and retailers. Note that fans who do this will also get notifications from your brand, which is a huge bonus for you. The user isn’t left out as they can choose to opt out of these notifications.
4. Edit Copy In Links
When you’ve created our Facebook post and included a link, the link auto populates with a title, photo, and description. Did you know that you can edit all of this?
You can change the photo thumbnail by mousing over the image and clicking on the left and right arrows to cycle through image choices.
To edit the title and description simply mouse over and click on either one and it will turn yellow. You can edit away and it’ll save.
5. Edit Posts & Comments
It’s a huge FAIL when you post a status for yourself, or worse, a client, and there are typos or incorrect information. This happens quite a bit to many users I’d bet. There’s no need to delete and repost anymore!
You can edit a post after it’s been published. Simply click on the live post in your timeline click the little pencil icon in the top right corner, and in the drop down choose “Edit…”.
6. Reposition Photos
I find this very useful when posting photos for my client Nightmares Fear Factory. Facebook will auto centre the image to fit the intended space. Sometimes if the image is not quite in the dimensions that Facebook recommends, the photo can show up off centre or worse, cut off.
No worries, go ahead and post your photo and see how it’s aligned. If you need to reposition it for any reason click the little arrow pointing down, in the top right corner of the post.
I hope you have uncovered some useful Facebook tools and tricks that you may not have knew existed.
If you have any that I’ve missed please share in the comments.
